Funeral services for George E. Shea, of 1033 N. Rutledge Ave., will be held at 11 a.m Monday in SS. Peter and Paul's Church, Rev. Louis C.Shea officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Shea, 62, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Cochran Veterans' Administration Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., following an illness since January.A meatcutter by trade, Mr. Shea was born Jan 3, 1896 in Springfield, the son of Patrick and Mary Merklin Shea. He married Agnes Muller Aug. 22, 1922, in Springfield. She died Dec. 5, 1941. Mr. Shea was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul's Church, the Holy Name Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 437, and was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are three sons, Rev. Louis C. Shea, St. James Church, Decatur; Pfc. Joseph A., U.S. Army, St. Louis, Mo.; Petty Officer 2C EugeneE., U.S. Navy, Lake Springfield; two daughters, Miss Mary Agnes at home, Mrs. Imelda Wilson, Springfield; three grandchildren; sister, Mother M. Imelda, St. Teresa's Convent, Decatur; three brothers, Carl, Seattle, Wash.; John and Fred, both of Springfield. The remains are at the Staab Funeral Home.
